Slovenian cycling superstar Tadej Pogacar has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of the sport and within a few short years is now in the conversation to become the greatest cyclist in history.

Tadej Pogacar made his World Tour debut in 2019 with his major breakthrough coming at the 2020 Tour de France where he dramatically overcame a huge deficit to beat fellow countryman Primoz Roglic in the final Time Trail to claim the yellow jersey in Paris - a cycling star was born. He retained his Tour de France crown in 2021 - a win built on his all-round cycling abilities with strong performances in both the time trials and the mountains - also retaining his Polka Dot King of the Mountains Jersey in 2021.

Cycling fans were served up a classic Tour de France contest in 2022 as an enticing rivalry for the ages was born as Tadej Pogagar battled for 3 weeks with eventual winner Jonas Vingegaard from Denmark. His versatility was further demonstrated later in 2022 with a series of one-day classic wins including the iconic Liege-Bastogne-Liege. The rivalry with Vingegaard continued into the 2023 Tour de France as the Dane retained his crown with a dominant performance.

2024 was a phenomenal year for Tadej Pogacar winning the historic Triple Crown - The Giro d'Italia, The Tour de France and the Road Race World Title, becoming only the third rider in history to achieve the feat - Stephen Roche in 1987 and the legendary Eddie Merckx in 1974. Comparisons with the great Eddie Merckx are now being made in terms of who can claim to be the greatest cyclist and with Pocagar claiming his 3rd Tour win he will have Merckx's record of 5 Tour wins firmly in his sights.
