A Grand Tour Master

Chris Froome signalled his credentials as a future legend at the Tour de France with his performances as a "super-domestique" to Team Sky Colleague and fellow British rider Bradley Wiggins at the 2012 Tour. Froome received orders on several occasions to hold back on the mountain stages and wait for his teammate Wiggins. He eventually finished second to Wiggins - the first time in Tour history that 2 British riders made the podium in Paris. Chris Froome would go one better in 2013 winning his first Tour de France title and the iconic yellow jersey. A crash forced him to withdraw from the 2014 Tour but returned to win the 2015 Tour de France with a dominant performance. Chris Froome's 2016 win will be remembered for one of the most dramatic and comical moments in the history of the Tour de France - a crash on the ascent up the legendary ascent of Mont Ventoux forced Froome to abandon his bike and continue on foot until his race car was able to give him another bike - after a judicial decision he retained the yellow jersey and went on to win his 3rd Tour title. 2017 was a doubly Grand year fro Chris Froome as he completed the Tour de France and Vuelta Espana double. Chris Froome completed the historic set of Grand Tour wins with his victory in the 2018 Giro d'Italia - his stunning breakaway win on Stage 19 will go down as one of the greatest solo rides in Grand Tour history.
