Bobby Moore is a West Ham United club legend and arguably their greatest-ever player - he represented the club in over 600 games between 1958 and 1974. During his time at the club, West Ham won the FA Cup in 1964 and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1965. England's Finest
His defining moment in an England shirt came in 1966 when he captained England to their historic World Cup win. Bobby Moore played for England 108 times between 1962 and 1973, a record for an England outfield player until 2009 (David Beckham). His maturity and leadership were recognised early in his England career, becoming captain in 1963 at the age of only 22. His popularity amongst the British sporting public was demonstrated when he was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1966 and his stature in English football was marked with a bronze statue at the entrance to Wembley Stadium. Bobby Moore tragically passed away at the age of 51 in 1993.
